  1. Answer to questions above:
Which monologue video do you feel was the best?

"A thing for nerds" performed by Lindsay Zana.

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?
I felt it was the most authentic performance and felt
Lindsay was this character, rather than just performing this
    character.

What was honest and real about the performance?
When lindsay used her facial expressions to express emotions
for example when she realised the power she had over boy nerds she scrunched up her eyebrows. Also she looked directly into the camera for most of the performance which made it feel as if she was having a conversation with me, yet glanced away sometimes which felt natural.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
Not sure what this question is asking in particular but I feel
that Lindsay did a great job with this character.

    5. Encore! I’ve watched and enjoyed “A Thing for Nerds” female monologue by Lindsay Zana. . I feel that this monologue is the best out of all the other videos. She seems more real with her performance because her emotions and demeanor reflect the audience attention. She made think that she truly is a nerd but in Art. I know me I would be defiant a nerd or brownnoser of the subject Art or Acting 101. Five stars to Lindsay on her acting she deserve much respect. Tanika Garner aka Zoe T. Garner

    6. I really enjoyed the "I Need Detention" one because I felt like the actor was the most comfortable of them all in front of the camera. I never once stopped and thought that it was awkward and I was genuinely laughing at what he said. He did a great job of telling the story and the way he delivered the lines made it hilarious!

    9. Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
I feel that Bone the Pirate Girl was the best, by: Seneca Baldwin

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos? I feel this was the best performance because it brought out a lot of energetic relations toward life. It explains a lot: How difficult it can be stuck somewhere without the touch or taste of something.

What was honest and real about the performance? The part of being stuck on the pirate ship, not being able to have ice cream, and having to take a bath in cold, cold sea water.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character? I feel that Seneca Baldwin did an excellent job. She really made the monologue believable. I enjoyed watching it.

    3. Yeah he was good, however the restrictions were specifically "which was the most real", that performance was distinctly theatre in my opinion, which isn't good or bad, the performance was good theatre, but the reason I didn't go with that one or others is because of it's style.

  11. which monologue video do you feel was the best?

I enjoyed the girl who mad a monologue "a thing for nerds"

    Why?

Her emotion was real and she had her own color. At some parts she sounded funny.

What was honest & real about the performance?

The way she explained how she feels when she is with them, she was not only wording it out but also acting it out. I could see her feeling like a princess when she is with them. I believed her!!

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?

I guess she put her self in her character's shoes. This shows that her imagination is good. Additionally every action she made has a motive side by side with her argument/wording.

  15. "Good deeds and Such" I Really feel it is The BEST Among All.

I feel this was the best performance out of all these videos is a simple Answer The Actor did a Preety Good Job.

Te Honesty thing in this video was the SPEECH, no exlanation for that one can simple say why it's the Speach by just watching the video.

The Actress was Really Really Good! 5 Thumps Up!
I mean just Look at her acting skills she was making the video interesting her Attitude, Her talking And Most Importantly it was very Attractive I must say.

  16. I really liked video number 13 Dumper. Because the character was originally so pathetic in everything he was saying, the actor did quite a good job at convincing himself of liking bunnies and the way he expressed his connections to bunnies through his eyes and hands came across as very authentic. I give this actor a good score, it didn't come across as though he was trying, he simply was!

  17. I think that "Good Deeds and Such" was a great monologue. She worked so well with not having anybody else around and reacted like there actually was somebody talking back. She sounded so real and had this ticked off, sarcastic, blunt answer to everything and she actually talked with some tone and sass in her voice instead of talking in a monotone voice. I think that i liked her monologue the most was because she did a great job responding when to nothing. She also picked a great outfit that was subtle, but fit the character extremely well.

  18. 19. -I Thought Before You Puntch Me

-This was the best performance for me because he really expressed his facial expressions when talking about the girl the character liked.

-This was honest and real as he realy expressed his honesty towards the girl and seemed real as he was expressing the proper facial features and actions and I personally think that would sort of happen in real life

-This actor did a great job with his character.

  20. The best comedic monologue out of these videos in my opinion was I Need Detention by Micah J Oliver.

  24. 1. For me the best was "I need detention".
    2. I liked the way he got into character and expressed himself like if Harm was a real girl, with the excitement and all, but not too overacted.
    3. How he showed his "love" for the girl and made up all kinds of plans and everything. Also how he shows the blind love that doesn't let the character see how rude the girl is.
    4. As a whole, getting into character. He could really feel the love and the excitement.

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos? The actress's inflections seemed to fit the role. I liked her accent and overall body language.

What was honest and real about the performance? I feel the accent is native. Maybe she can be a pushy person. I sure hope not.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character? I felt like she maintained my attention by changing her tone, and pace when appropriate. She did a great job by not only portraying a character who is a jerk but by also maintaining eye contact so it felt like she was speaking to me.

  35. I actually have two favorite monologues, which were: "Forever On Hold" and "Catchick". What I enjoyed about "Forever on Hold" was the actresses' pacing, facial expressions and humor in the delivery. I loved her expressive eyes as she performed. In "Catchick" my favorite part of the monologue was the hairball. All of the performances were good, but these were my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Regarding Roz's comments above, what was honest and real about the performance in "Forever On Hold" was that I could visualize the times I have been on hold and had the same annoying experiences. The actresses' reenactment was on point. What was honest and real about "Catchick" was that she actually reminded me of a cat as she was coughing up the hairball. Both ladies did a good job with the characters.

  37. The best monologue for me was number 10.
Humpty Dumpty Private Egg Hard-Boiled Detective.

Why was it the best of all the video?
The actor did a good portrayal of the character and he never breaks from it and that keeps you from watching him til the end of the monologue.

What was honest and real about the performance?
His movement, the tone of his voice and even his expression made him look older.

How do you feel the actor did?
He did a very good job. I think it was well-rehearsed. He had done it over and over again that it came to a point that his actions, voice and delivery had become very comfortable for him and appeared natural.

Good Deeds-She really became that character, and her mannerisms made the performance much more real and entertaining
Kill First- He really sounded like a villain (maybe like someone in the Mafia more specifically) it made the monologue really come to life, plus his pacing was good, he didn't rush through, he knew when to pause
What was honest and real about the performance?
    Good Deeds-Mannerisms, tone of voice
    Kill First-Accent, pacing

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
They both became the role they were playing, even if it was short lived, they made those 2 minutes really come to life and really entertaining.

All the actors were quite good. It seems like the guy from I need detention understand his niche well. I'd also like to give a shout out to the actress from Forever On Hold. The filming was a little rough but overall I really understood where she was coming from!!!

  47. Out of all performances "I Need Detention" was in my opinion the best Not only did it have me laughing at certain parts, I enjoyed the story of how the character was good at convincing himself that he did things unintentionally but then he was intentionally trying to find ways to get himself situated with the girl he liked.

What I thought was real and honest is that as a guy, we can develop crushes on girls without even thinking if this person would be good for us. And afterwards, we would put all our focus on trying to get together with this girl.

What I liked about the actor was his vocal performance in the monologue. For example when he was getting loud and excited when he thought of an idea.

More basis in realism, better flow, and he seemed right for the character he was playing.

  54. I feel the monologue “Before You Punch Me” was the best. The actor truly looked like he was being threatened by someone off camera. And I really like that the monologue was delivered to the off screen person, instead of directly to the camera. In the whole list, I think there were only two, maybe three, that were not spoken directly to the camera.

A thing for nerds. It was the best because it was funny yet realistic and i really felt she was a girl who really loved nerds. It was just really really good. It was just a tiny bit too slow, maybe a bit faster but I’m not exactly sure yet.

What was honest and real about the performance?
His impromptu actions, plus his passion and intensity.

He put his own personality into it, he made it his own.

  58. Although all of the monologues were done well, I feel that the "A Thing For Nerds" was the best. Being a woman in the gaming community myself, I felt what she said was pure truth. Girl nerds are rare to find and sometimes only nerd guys seem to realize that. To be honest, she didn't even seem like she was playing a character. She became one with the character in a way that made me feel that she really is this kind of person. But sometimes, it's just great acting.

  59. Best Monologue
I feel that the best Monologue was the "Before you punch me".
    The reason for my opinion
Through out the scene the actor has a defensive and kind of afraid emotion that has the audience believe he's backed against a wall about to be punched and then he explains his feelings about this girl to the person who's going to punch him.
    What was honest and real
how he was explaining his feelings, almost as if he was talking about his girlfriend now and not actually in a Monologue,
I think he did an excellent job with this character.

  60. My favorite was ''Cassandra''. I think she was very believable and funny, and I've actually watched that monologue a couple of times now. She kind of reminds me of Jane Bingum/Deb from Drop Dead Diva.

  61. Actually I don't have a favorite but 3. "good deeds and such", "before you punch me" "Cassandra" they were all pretty believable. And gave me the most emotions. But the other actors also did great overall so good job and keep up. Fighting!!

  62. "Before you punch me" with Micah J. Oliver is in my opinion one of the best performances. He delivered the monologue quite realistically and entertaining, without overdoing it: it feels natural. As viewer you totally believe there is another person that he is talking to. A lot happens during the performance that keeps it interesting: he moves very freely, acts with his whole body, uses gestures a lot. He varies nicely with the pace of the monologue and he uses breaks or silent moments very well. Great job!

•Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
It was tough to decide between a few of them, but I think this one is my favorite, it is absolutely fantastic, It made me smile when he was talking about this girl like he was so in character I really felt it and it was really like he was crushing on this girl, It also shocked me when he was taking about giving a wedgie to the principle, It was really like he was actually talking to somebody, and he was so consistent to where he was looking and his voice like he was having a proper conversation.

•Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?
There were alot of them that were really good, but with this one I could really feel the emotions he was giving off he was so into charter and made it all sound so real. Consistent eye contact with this imaginary person the way his body language is moving his arms and face and such I think this man has got natural talent. It looked like it was so effortless and he was not even trying.

•What was honest and real about the performance?
The way he was acting, in his voice it sounded like he was having a proper conversation the way he was so consistent where he was looking and how he was speaking, sometimes the way he looks up or away from the person when he is taking about her like he is actually thinking about this girl

•How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
He really knew his character well with getting into character, and how he made it seem like he was really crushing on this girl, and really thinking about what he could do to get this detention. And that it made me smile when he was talking about her how you smile when somebody is love and they talk about other person and you are happy for them and got surprised at the end he really makes you feel emotions for him. Also cheeky laugh was great when he had thought of what he was going to do, this was all round a fantastic performance and so for me the best.

My favourite was 'I need detention' I found the timing was good, the use of facial expression and body language was fantastic, and the fact that he focussed on 'someone' behind the camera as if he was engaging in a real conversation was good to see. 71. The monologue I felt best was A Thing For Nerds. I felt she really expressed herself, not many people are willing to show themselves to the world like she did.The sound of her voice added a tone of truth to the monologue. She wasn't pretending she was being. Her facial expressions also allowed us to really see inside of her, it wasn't pretend to me it felt real. The way you could tell how truthfull she was by her expressions made it show she really cared about acting, she wasn't just an actor she was an ACTOR! I felt she really brought her nerdy charecter to life and I know she will inspire others just to be themselves. Even though this was a monologue it felt real. I To act in the way she did is hard , but yet she did and to me she succeeded.
Some people may think I just picked this video because it is the first one and they are wrong I picked it because to me it was small compared to the others, but it also made a big impact on the way I see the world. i feel this was one of the best monologues because it showed how passionate she was and she was standing up for nerds and proving a very good point.

what was honest and real about the performance?
what made it honest and real was that she wasnt just pretending to be this character and have a voice but she really was that person (at least she made it seem like that) and she wasnt afraid to tell everyone how she feels.

how do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
i feel this actor did a good job with her character because she made it feel real as if she was actually talking to us because she looked exactly at the camera most of the time but occasionaly she looked away which made it feel real. she also used lots of facial expressions too which made it look better.

  75. I thought Flowers from Phil was the best. The awkwardness was genuine and completely appropriate. I also think the target was clear, he was talking to his date not just the camera. The pacing and hesitance in his delivery really helped even if there were a couple of small jokes (like the Madonna line) that could have been framed a little stronger for a bigger impact.

She didn't just wear cat ears and talk about some cat shit, she had also made some editions that changed her voice to a less natural human voice. The thing that made the video feel real is the way she said her lines and when she "had to" caugh, she made a cat like voice and her voice throughout the video. The actor has made a good job, not just with the character but with editing her video. You could have thought it's a real talking cat if it wouldn't be for her human body and face...

I felt the best monologue was Don't Punch Me It was performance number 2 out of the 20.

What was honest and real about the performance?
I liked this performance so much because it was the simplest. He didn't try to be over the top, the actor just used the text and just talked honestly and truthfully.

  104. I feel the best monologue was the detective monologue by Dave Neylon. I feel his performance was best because he seemed to really feel the lines he was saying. He went beyond reciting lines and "acting" out the mannerisms and emotions that he thought would be involved in his monologue. I know his accent was not his own, but he still made his performance very watchable and real. What was real about his performance was that everything he said seemed to truly come from his own creation rather seeming like he was trying to act out lines that somebody wrote for him (which is a tough obstacle for many aspiring actors). I think the actor would have done a great job without changing his persona, or adopting an accent. When he did the acting with the accent, he was still able to pull it off in a way that I felt that he was really a part of the story, as if his spoken words were his own--like there was no script in the first place.

  108. To me the best monologue was "Before you punch me". I really enjoyed this and thought it was the best because it kind of was more realistic than the others, more people can relate. It wasn't just humorous, it was also very real and touching to the heart. He to me, was one of the best actors because of his engr. and amazing motions and movement that helped me really get into it and image it. The performance was honest and real because it showed how a boy had the real and true feelings for a girl, and he didn't care the conscience from loving her. It was just really true to the world and how every beautiful thing comes with some baggage. He did a great job with the character because to me, he really become the character. I was imaging him actually in the situation. I want to uplift this actor because he has some great talent that he should share with the world. I enjoyed his performance and i think everyone else would as well.

  109. I feel that the “Good Deeds and Such” was the best. I feel it was the best performance out of all because, to start with, her eyes. She didn’t only move her eyes from side to side which showed the upset rude emotion, but as well as she blinked fast as like “really, really.” Hand emotions were good, along with when she sighs to give it more emotion and a bit of a break. Emily had brought the character of a worried witch who might lose her magic to life, but crossed over to someone hopeful with an idea. Lastly she didn’t look at the camera, which made it feel that other people were really around her and she was talking to them.

  111. I liked forever on hold. She put so much feel into the words without having to use props or move around alot. The monologue itself was down to earth and the way she delivered it really made it pop. She did an great job with this monologue.

  112. Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
"A thing for nerds" by Lindsay Zana.

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?

Because I feel like out of all the performances, she really became her character. She showed such wonderful emotions and belief. It didn't even felt like a monologue it felt like it was truly her and very convincing.

  113. I felt that ‘I Need Detention’ by Micah J. Oliver was the best.

I felt this was the best performance because he had good contrast between seriousness and humor. His actions were broad and noticeable for if her were on stage.

The way he portrayed the different emotions showed truth (as Stanislavsky puts it) and was honest. Therefore it was real and believable.

This actor really became one with the character by making the audience even think that he’s thinking the character’s thoughts during the pauses. It was a true believable performance.

  114. #Q1 "Humpy Dumpy"
#Q2 He brought back type of acting that that was used in old style films which to me was a good thought process and motivation to the comedy he was portraying
Q3 He decorated his look to the part as well as made a believe that he was in the moment he was acting, as well as being references that would match the comedy performance, which some of the others did but not in the motivational way he did
Q4 Again, I'd have to say dressing the part and the facial moments brought the character to live kinda like in The movie Roger Rabbit in certain points.

  117. My favourite urite comedy monologue was "I need a detention" by Micah J Oliver. This was the best monologue because his facial expressions were very realistic and believable. He looked very at home in front of the camera and he had a convincing tone of voice that made what he was saying generally humorous. What was honesty and real about him? Well this is a hard question but I truly think that the actor sounded like he was in a genuine situation. I think the actor did a job by using his body language, that made his performance very relatable.

    1. I liked this one too. This was one of the more believable performances in my opinion. I think Micah did a great job adding a comedic feel to this and I actually laughed at some points. Like you said he seemed very comfortable and genuine. There were a few hand gestures I felt were a little over the top making it seem a little scripted but all together I think he did a great job.

  118. There were several performances that I thought more more believable that some. I noticed a theme of over the top facial expressions and hand movements making some monologues seem very scripted. My favorite, however, would be "Kill First, Gloat Later". There wasn't much emotional change throughout the scene but I think that is what made it good.
I think the actor did a great job learning the monologue and getting his character down for his performance. The casual attitude made for an interesting and honest sounding villain. I think he did well altogether. I wasn't a big fan of the little spin at the end though.

  119. Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
I honestly can't pick. I love the nerd and cassandra monolouge.

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?
For the nerd because her diction was on point, she smiles naturally and seems believable. For the cassandra i feel like she puts her all into it and really use her expressions well.

What was honest and real about the performance?
Both are believable and not afraid to change up their expressions.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
The nerd monolouge was pretty hard to express really because you know, angry or sad or any other feelings would be easier to act than happiness and love, but she nailed it. The cassandra was great because the actor was bold and gave her all.

  122. The monologue video that I liked the most was "Flowers by Phil". I liked Jonathan Ball's performance the best because his performance was genuine. He didn't act like he was talking to the camera, instead he made it clear that from his point of view he was talking to the other character and playing his role. Jonathan made his character likeable, and entertaining. I believe his was the most, and I would easily watch other performances he did.
