  1. Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
I found it difficult to decide between three videos, but I will choose "I can't stop" by Asia Marshay.

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?
I felt that Asia really was a homeless person reflecting on her life.

What was honest and real about the performance?
When Asia smiled when reflecting about getting nice things from the store, and when she looked down when discussing when she finally found someone she cared. Also when she smiled trying to hide her tears.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
I feel Asia believed that she was this character, and it came across in her performance.

  5. I'm going with Micha I got his name from the last part of class. ☺
It was his expressions that got me and the way he raised his voice in concern and lowered it when he was in deep thought. I also liked how he was dressed in his suit it gave me the he idea from the get go that something special was taking place. Indeed because he was portraying a man who is anxious before his wedding.

  20. They were all so good but its difficult to choose out of 'waiting on the bride', nervous and staying power. Waiting on the bride, he has such good acting skills of becoming the character and acting so dramatic. Nervous, she acts so emotional and shows it really well and gets so into her character. Staying power, her expressions are so good and shows great acting skills, they all do. But my favourite would have to be waiting on the bride, he is such a good actor. :)

  23. My Best Monologue: "Waiting on the Bride."
Why: The actor's anxiety as he waited seemed genuine. I liked how he was thinking aloud how he may have contributed if she didn't show. His pauses and facial expressions were good, making him seem more credible. When the bride showed up, he seemed genuinely excited that he was going to be a husband and would have an opportunity to spend the rest of his life with the love of his life.
What was honest and real: He became a waiting groomsman versus an actor.
The actor did a good job because he made me forget that he was doing a monologue, but was rather a nervous groom instead. He was convincing.

  31. "The Not So Perfect Child." This dealt with family issues and in my opinion mental issues and both of these can have a major influence on a persons life. The setting of the monologues where the character was on the floor showed that feeling of being undeserved which I thought added to the monologue.

What was real and honest is that the character must have some mental health issues (e.g. depression) which made her feel sad and worthless. Judging herself and comparing to others, something in some way or another can relate to.

What the actor did well was remained sad and negative during the monologue, letting you know this person was in a dark place.

  37. Which monologue video do you feel was the best?:
A Breaking Heart by Kierra Land

Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?:
She seemed the most natural and the least "acted", she also had strong eyes, which is honestly the most important part of doing shots that are in such close vicinity.

What was honest and real about the performance?:
Her eyes and how she stated her lines, the others were distinctly theatre and a few broke the immersion but looking directly into the camera.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?:
They expressed themselves powerfully through their eyes, they kept movements simple which support camera acting due to continuity issues, and they felt more like the character than others in that she wasn't "acted", she was being.

  38. I felt that “Staying Power” was the best video. This actress delivered an incredible scene. I was almost in tears (which is a big deal; it takes a lot for a scene to make me cry). You could really see the emotion in her eyes and I loved how she changed the volume of her voice at just the right moments, it wasn’t random.

  40. I felt that the "Go Home" monologue was the best because it had the best message to me. So many people these days are too lazy and uncaring for their fellow man. It was as though I was not watching an acting scene. The actress was very realistic. I could also connect with the monologue because I have observed people verbally having the same conversation and I have been in the same emotional space.

  47. •Which monologue video do you feel was the best?
I think my favorite monologue was •"The Not So Perfect Child", It was very good. She was very in character she seemed so upset and with every word she spoke it like it was real and her eyes were teary too it was brilliant acting. It was tough deciding between this one and the "Waiting on the Bride" they both were really good but just feel like it really hard to look so genuinly upset and make others feel upset for you, the other one made me feel really happy for him but i just feel it's much easier to be happy that it is to look deeply hurt like she was so I thought it was a bit better.

•Why do you feel this was the best performance out of all these videos?
I felt like this was the bes performance because it seemed very real so believable, and it actually made me really sad for her because she gives off emotion and makes you feel for her and share her emotion.

•What was honest and real about the performance?
She seemed so upset all through it she had real tears in her eyes, real hurt in her voice and in her face, in the way she looks around sometimes and looks down it shows how little she feels and how bad she feels with the subject she is talking about it is so believable. when she says "I'm hurting" it really sounds like she has pain in her heart and she really is, it was very convincing.

•How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?
she was really in character she really knew her lines and did a fantastic performance there was so many things she did good, facial expressions the way her mouth looks your mouth tends to be that kind of shape when you are crying or going to cry and her eyes were teary it made it believable and how she looks around sometimes it shows how little and how bad she feels, she really knew her character well and had some kind of connection with it to have pulled it off so perfectly.

  51. Which video monologue do you feel was the best?

    Waiting on the bride.

Why do you feel this was the best performance of all these videos?

The performance was really dramatic and the actor was distressed as should be anyone waiting for a late bride.

What was honest and real about the performance?

When I was watching the video I got totally engrossed, I was sad for him, I kept on hoping the bride would show up and when she did I was so happy. I was amazed at how much the video took effect over me.

How do you feel this actor did a good job with the character?

The actor was great, his hand gestures and dramatic ways showed a really anxious person and then a happy person at last. He portrayed the character well.

  53. I felt the best monologue was My Dream. She was really intent with becoming this lovestruck girl waiting for love. Her emotions really showed when you looked at her face, her eyes were distant as if she was imagining what her first love would be like. Her voice was truthfull, but distant. She was really thinking about love. Her emotions were honest like I said before her face showed everything as if I were there and it was really true, she wasn't just acting. Her lost in thought voice also really brought her character to life. As she spoke about her dream of love her voice changed and so did her facial expression. It was like I was there with her. She looked as if she wasn't even acting! She did an amazeing job getting into her hopeful charecter. Emotion is one thing a charecter like that needs and she showed so much of it. I am very impressed.I know I could never show that much expression. I feel this is a rather short comment, but I hope it is one that shows great depth.

  54. The best one was 'The not so perfect child'
The story was great and the most relatable, and with the actor's amazing work I found it to be the best one.
The expressions and the speech made the performance an honest one.
The frustrated look that the actor acquired is what really amazing.

  55. A breaking heart had some great truth in it. I think the feeling of being defeated came across well. I also liked the faked strength and friendliness while hurting. It could have been stronger if it started out with a different attitude and let the “You want to break up” line cause the defeated state so we can see the transition.

He left my imagination open to so many possibilities before he reveled he was waiting for his bride. He kept me interested till the end, which made his performance the best. I could relate to the emotions he was feeling.

The pain and struggle is real and it is very nicely represented. Her acting was flawless, it felt so real as if she's going through the pain at that very moment. I actually started crying after seeing her performance. She completely got into her acting and shocked me with her perfection. I hope best for her and that I also belive that she can become one of the greatest actress. BRILLANT

  72. The "best" was a tough choice to make because they all seem to be at about the same level. It was a tough choice, but I chose the "Back to Work" monologue from the "Death of an Insurance Salesman Script."

I felt it was the best performance of all videos because it just seemed the most convincing to me, and the actor did a great job at avoiding the pitfall of trying too hard to demonstrate the ability to show emotions; Therefore when his emotions came through at certain parts, they were very real and very believable.

The honesty of the performance was that everything he said seemed to come from him rather than a script and he let the emotions just naturally happen when they happened, rather than trying to build up and emotion and hang onto it throughout the lines. It was pretty convincing to me.

The actor did a good job with the character by using a posture that would be expected for his role, dressing the role, using the volume and tone of voice that would have been appropriate for the role, and of course being very convincing with his mannerisms, emotions, and all other nuances.

  73. I most liked "Waiting on the bride".
I chose this because i liked the story from the get go. The actor was very animated, in a good way. What was honest and real about it?
The actor seemed really pressed, like he truly experienced what he spoke. You could have made the entire scene WITHOUT dialogue.

He did a good job with the character by making movements that were very..."wedding-like". The way he constantly makes sure his suit is straight. Looking around to see if someone amongst the guests can help him. I really liked how visual he is.
The best word to deacribe this would for me be, "complete".

    A great monologue!

  75. I was torn between "Waiting fir the bride" and "The not so perfect Child." After doing the pros and cons (yes, I know I'm crazy) I chose, "The not so perfect child." I chose this one because it was very dramatic and I think was the hardest to preform. The actor did very great in a more difficult monologue. She was very into the performance and I felt emotional for her, which means I for a second thought she meant what she said, which makes a great actor/actress. She was very great in changing emotions and different levels of voice at approipate timing. It was very honest and real because I believe a lot of people can relate to this. I personally don't have much of the same feelings of the character, which really pulled me in as well. Like I said, she became the character and it seemed like she meant every word she said. I would like to uplift this actress and say that she has a great talent and I really enjoy watching her act. I hope she goes far in the business because I would love to watch her again.

  76. ‘Waiting on the Bride’ was the best.

I feel this way because of the variations in tone, pitch and dynamic was well used.

The part that was honest about the performance was the emotion: worry. I felt worried with the performer as he made it so real.

He did a good job in varying his dynamics and ‘stress levels’.

  77. Q1: Waiting for the Bride
Q2: Although I've never been in that position, I felt the nervousness he was going through, sitting there thinking out loud every outcome that could go wrong.
Q3: He made the waiting process of a life changing experience for the viewer, bringing up the nervous reality of "what if" was never ending like a groom to be with nothing on the mind but this actual thought.
Q4: He brought the character to life with the mind wondering away from reality to the sense and the eyes drifted up high when he was thinking how much better she was and deserved better then him.
