Videos from Instructional Designer Doug Larson

Doug Larson
Instructional Designer

As an instructional designer, I use the ADDIE process to guide the projects I manage. In my most recent position, I developed educational videos for a hospital. With each project, I start with an analysis of needs. Once the client’s goals and objectives were identified, then I designed a plan for the project including a script and storyboards. I worked closely with clients during the development process, involving them in the production of my projects. During the editing process, I kept in constant communication with the clients, seeking feedback throughout the process. I also followed up after testing the materials with learners. I strive to create useful and engaging educational materials that inspire and motivate learners.

I am comfortable using a variety of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Sharepoint. PowToon and iSpring provide me with additional tools to create projects quickly for clients. By using programs such iSpring, a common program such as PowerPoint transforms into a powerful course creation tool. I have assisted with the administration of Learning Management Systems including BlackBoard, Canvas and Learning Central. I also use Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere and Photoshop, to develop educational resources.
