PART 7 SCENE - BAD LUCK
(Then DWARF rushes in)
DWARF
Did you see a bear?
ANGEL
You are not welcome here, Dwarf.
DWARF
Answer me.
ANGEL
I do not take orders from you.
DWARF
You’re useless. Get out of my way.
ANGEL
What is the rush, little one?
DWARF
Summer is nearly done and I have too much to do.
ANGEL
Winter is the time we’re free of your evil ways.
DWARF
My people hate the cold so we hide in our holes and caves until Spring.
ANGEL
If only you would stay there forever.
DWARF
What is this place?
ANGEL
This home is none of your concern. The humans who live here are kind and good and I will protect them from harm. You are a harmful creature and must go… now.
DWARF
They look poor. I have no interest in them. They serve no purpose.
ANGEL
You find no purpose in good.
DWARF
Correct. What a waste of time this is.
ANGEL
Then be on your way.
DWARF
I’m leaving only because I want to, not because you told me to.
ANGEL
So you say. And do not return for each time you do, bad luck will fall upon.
DWARF
Luck is for Leprechauns. Back luck indeed. We dwarves make our own fortunes through hard work…
ANGEL
Is stealing hard work?
(DWARF makes a rude sound and leaves)
