"She Always Sings for Me" environmental themed monologue

"She Always Sings for Me"
by D. M. Larson
From the published play
page 9

My mother wanted to send me away when she got sick. She said it was no longer safe. She pleaded with me to go, but I couldn't. Then, suddenly, she stopped talking. I tried to get her to speak, but she wouldn't. She wouldn't even sing to me anymore. She always sings to me. Always.

(Crying uncontrollably)

Why won’t she sing to me anymore?
